Jean Pierre Andre Jonker (33) appeared before the Bethlehem Commercial Crime Court on 7 December 2021, where he was convicted and sentenced for fraud.

His conviction emanates from an incident which took place in 2019 where the victim bought a tractor from Jonker and for which he paid R250 000-00.

After making the payment the bank came and repossessed the tractor.

The matter was then reported to the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Bethlehem. Jonker was issued with a summons on Tuesday, 2 February 2021. He appeared in court on several occasion culminating his recent conviction.

The court sentenced Jonker to five years imprisonment wholly suspended for five (5) years on condition that he repay the victim an amount of R250 000-00 before the end of the day.
