Four suspects were arrested shortly after the wife of a farmer was attacked at her home near Arlington in the Free State.

The suspects waited in the garage on the farm Roodekraal for Pauline van Zyl, on February 27 around 18H00 and overpowered her.

The suspects all wore blue overalls, balaclavas, and white gloves, and assaulted van Zyl. The suspects demanded that van Zyl open the safe. The suspects put a black plastic bag over van Zyl’s head, tied her up and left her in the bathroom.

The suspects fled with three firearms.

Van Zyl managed to free herself and called for help.

Van Zyl’s husband, Stefan, was not at home during the forced attack.

The police and almost 50 farmers in the area responded and a search began around the area of the farm.

The four suspects will appear in court on charges of armed robbery.
