Four suspects, aged between 26 and 36, are in custody and expected to appear in the Parys Magistrate’s Court after being arrested for the possession of suspected stolen property during an early morning operation on the N1 highway.
The arrest occurred on Thursday, 18 September 2025, following a coordinated effort by law enforcement. The Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol, Kroonstad Highway Patrol relief (C), and Sasolburg relief (D), in collaboration with other units, acted on intelligence regarding a wanted mini truck. The vehicle was allegedly linked to a series of truck tire thefts across the Free State, Gauteng, and Limpopo provinces.
Acting on the information, members set up a waylay and successfully spotted the target vehicle traveling on the N1 highway towards Gauteng. After a brief chase, the suspect’s vehicle was intercepted and brought to a stop near the Vaal River.
Upon searching the mini truck, officials discovered four truck tires in the back. The four occupants were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for their possession of the tires, leading to their immediate arrest.
The suspects now face formal charges of possession of suspected stolen property. Their court date is to be confirmed.
