Firearm licences money: Ficksburg SAPS official arrested for fraud

A 42-year-old suspect, who was attached to the South African Police Service Finance Department in Ficksburg was arrested on Friday, 21 February 2020 with the assistance of the Phuthaditjhaba Tactical Response Team (TRT) at Riverside in Qwa-Qwa.

The suspect’s duties among others was to receive money from the public for renewal of firearms licences. She allegedly unlawfully enriched herself for her own benefit with the amount of over R100 000, and created untraceable fraudulent receipts that could not be located on the Polfin system.

She is expected to appear before the Magistrates’ Court at Ficksburg on Monday, 24 February 2020.
