A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for his friend’s murder in Kgotsong, Bloemfontein over R10.
On Wednesday 28 September 2022, a group of friends were having a chat at a house in Kgotsong Section at about 20:00 when the 24-year-old accused arrived carrying a bag.
He never said anything, but pulled and forced the victim to the street and started stabbing him. The 30-year-old victim was stabbed six times in the chest and back and was declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
Further investigations revealed that the argument was because the victim owed the accused R10.00 and he was there to collect it, but the victim did not have it.
Kopanong police were called and the suspect was arrested a few hours later. Blood-stained clothing, as well as the knife used, were discovered at his parents’ home.
The accused, Thabo Tomanyane, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the brutal murder of his friend by the Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court.
