Farmers on Blue and White patrols stopped a TLB driven between Dewetsdorp and Hobhouse during the early hours of Friday, 17 November 2023. The multi-purpose and versatile industrial machine used for digging and moving objects was taken from the roadworks side on R702 and was stopped on the gravel road heading towards Eastern Free State at about 01:30.
The vigilant farmers apprehended the two suspects and thereafter called Dewetsdorp Police Station. A patrol vehicle was dispatched as backup and swiftly responded. The owner of the TLB was traced and confirmed that the vehicle is used by TAU PELE Construction on R702 roadworks.
The two suspects aged 33 and 38 were then arrested and a case docket of Theft of motor vehicle was opened at Dewetsdorp Police Station. The vehicle was handed back to lawful owners. The suspects will appear in Dewetsdorp Magistrate Court soon.
