A farm murder took place during the night of 24 and the morning of 25 October 2020, in the Viljoenskroon area, in the Free State province of South Africa. A sheep and cattle trader, Dave Wessels (65) , was found brutally murdered on his smallholding at 06:00 on 25 October 2020, by his neighbour who was unable to get in touch with him and had gone to the home.

The neighbor noticed that the burglar guards were broken and that there were blood stains in the room and on the wall, he immediately contacted the police who found Wessels body covered with bed linen in the room. He had been tied with electrical wire and had suffered severe trauma and stab wounds to his body and head.

There is a look out for the farmers vehicle that was robbed, a white Toyota Hilux Club Cab with registration FZC 861 FS. The vehicle was captured on camera on the morning of 25 October 2020, travelling towards Khuma and then in Vermaasdrift in the direction of Stilfontein.
