André van Biljon (69), who was shot in the chest and hand during a farm attack on a small holding in Oranjeville, in the Free State province of South Africa, has died.

During the farm attack, his son, a former Springbok hooker, Lukas van Biljon (47) was stabbed several times with a knife and his children tied up with cable ties.

At about 00:30, on 27 May 2023, the police were called to the scene after the Van Biljon family were attacked.

After the violent attack on the family, the attackers fled with a Range Rover which was recovered on Strydom Street in Oranjeville. They then fled in a Toyota Camry when they saw the blue lights of the police.

An activation plan involving surrounding police and farmers blocked off all roads and at a roadblock at Viljoensdrift the vehicle was stopped.

Two attackers, aged 32 and 42, were arrested.

Khanye Muthi (32) and Latin Mofokeng (42) appeared in the Heilbron Magistrates Court on 29 May 2023, the case was postponed to 5 June 2023 for a formal bail application.
