A farm attacker connected to an earlier farm murder has been identified and captured by farmers.

The farming community assisted the police in a search for the assailants after a farmer and his wife were attacked on their farm near Koffiefontein in the Free State.

Police officers from Luckhoff, Trompsburg Koffiefontein Petrusville, and Vanderkloof participated in the massive search.

Two suspects attacked Mr. Rudolf and Mrs. Aletta van Heerden in broad daylight on their farm Avondrus about 10 km from Koffiefontein and fled with money, rifles, cell phones and the couple’s car.

Mrs. Van Heerden drove her injured partner to the nearest police station. The injuries sustained in the attack were not too serious.

The stolen Toyota Corolla car was later found near the Havenga Bridge between the Free State and the Northern Cape. Apparently, the suspects abandoned the car and fled on foot.
