A brutal farm attack took place at 20:30 on the evening of 14 December 2019, in Shannon, Bloemfontein, in the Free State province of South Africa. An elderly couple, aged 70 and 75, were very seriously assaulted and injured by two attackers who allegedly gained entrance by breaking the burglar gate and the door. The suspects who were armed with a panga and hammer assaulted and tied up the couple.
Meanwhile the alarm system went off. Members from Senforce security responded to the alarm. They found the two suspects still in the house who then attacked the two security guards. The security guards retaliated and shot one of the suspects dead and managed to arrest the second one.
The arrested suspect will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate court on Tuesday 17 December 2019. The couple were transferred to a local hospital for medical treatment.
