On the 7 August 2021 at about 12:00, the police were summoned to Toekoms farm outside where a family of five was reportedly killed.

It is alleged that a traditional healer who had an appointment with the family made the gruesome discovery in the morning.

On arrival apparently the traditional healer noticed that the door was not locked. He knocked on the door but there was no answer.

He waited outside for a while and when he saw that no one was coming he pushed the door and saw a hand protruding from the sitting room door. He went to alert the neighbour and the police were informed.

On arrival the police found the body of a man aged about 47 with multiple wounds to the body, the woman aged about 41 was found lying next to him, also with multiple wounds to the body. The children, a boy aged about 16 and a girl aged about 8 were also found in the same room, both with stab wounds to the body. In the other bedroom the body of the third boy aged about 23 was found lying on the floor with stab wounds to the body.

The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage and no one has been arrested.

The matter has been assigned to the Provincial Organised Crime team for through investigation.
