The Provincial Organized Crime Unit in a quest to preserve and maintain their social status, arrested one of their own on the afternoon of 21 May 2021. The 32-year-old male Constable attached to the Provincial Organized Crime unit was arrested whilst on duty.
This is after it emerged that the member had been extorting money from a fraud suspect in exchange for making the case disappear.
Transactions made by the suspect to the member were traced and he was arrested.
He will appear at the Ficksburg Magistrate Court on Monday, 24 May 2021 on corruption and extortion charges.
