Police are on the lookout for six suspects who allegedly overpowered and robbed an elderly couple on their farm in the Frankfort district.

On 01 Mach 2024 at about 03:15, the couple woke up when a group of unknown men were in their bedroom on their farm between Frankfort and Heilbron. The suspects overpowered the 78-year-old woman and her husband, who is 74, as well as an employee, aged 48, who stays with them in the house. They tied them up and ransacked the house, looking for money and firearms.

The suspects fled with household items, two handguns, a shotgun, and the farmer’s Ford Ranger bakkie. The bakkie was found abandoned in a field, but the firearms are still missing.

No one was seriously injured. The police are still on the scene, following up on all possible leads. Police are investigating charges of house robbery, theft of a vehicle and theft of firearms.
