On 20 May 2022, members of Welkom K9 Unit were on vehicle patrol in the CBD when they noticed a suspicious sedan vehicle with tinted windows. The driver attempted to evade police however, police gave chase until the vehicle was cornered.
Two occupants, a male and a female, were found in the vehicle and police made a request to conduct a search. Upon a search in the vehicle, drugs including dagga, crystal meth, cat, heroin and crack cocaine with a combine street value of R8 150 were found.
A cash amount of R4 500 was also seized.
The two suspects, aged 24 and 29, are facing a charge of possession of drugs and they are set to appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court today.
