The Welkom Public Order Police have arrested siblings at Tshiame outside Harrismith after finding that they don’t have license for possessing firearm, give possession of a firearm or ammunition to a person whom is not allowed in terms of Firearm Act to possess such firearm or ammunition and selling dagga.

On Wednesday, 22 December 2021 at about 10:00, the members followed information at 6 Tshiame A with regard to person selling dagga at an identified house. The team arrived at the house and found owner aged 32 in possession of plastics containing loose dagga underneath her bed and some cash.

Apparently, the further searched pink toiletry bag in the main bedroom and found a firearm and ammunitions.

She alleged that it belonged to her brother staying at Tshiame B. He was summoned to the house and upon his arrival admitted the firearm is his and was arrested as he couldn’t have any license.

Both suspects were arrested and detained in police cells whilst exhibits seized.

The two suspects are expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrate court soon facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions and other for allegedly dealing in dagga.
