Criminal charges in terms of the prevention of corrupt activities were laid against the ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule, at the Bethlehem police station.

It originates from the Vogelfontein housing project in Bethlehem and it is alleged that Magashule, the then premier of the Free State, circumvented tender procedures to ensure that a Chinese firm would get the contract. His daughter is connected to Unital Holdings as one of the directors.

R70 million has been paid for the construction of 1050 houses, but only 558 are completed without toilets, power and water. Magashule is also being investigated by the hawks for his involvement in the Vrede Milk Farm in which the Guptas milked about R570 million.
