A joint operation comprising of Hennenman SAPS, Tactical Response Team (TRT), Welkom K9 Unit, National Rapid Rail Police and Spoornet security personnel was led by Lt Col Neo Mokhantso, Station Commander of Hennenman.

During disruptive and tracing operation held on 12 November 2021 at about 02:30, members received information about suspicious vehicle in the Hennenman vicinity. The vehicle was followed and when it took R70 road towards Senekal, the driver sped off when realising the Police behind.

The vehicle was chased for 10 km towards Senekal

The driver lost control and the vehicle swerved in the field as a result of a tyre burst.

The suspects ran inside the bush and members chased them tirelessly, the first three suspects were arrested at about 03:30 and the fourth one around 07:00 at Skaap farm, Senekal district. The suspects are foreign nationals aged between 19 and 24 years.

Eight (8) rolled Copper cables were found inside the sedan vehicle with the street value of R69 400, and the vehicle was seized.

The suspects will appear on 15 November 2021 in the Hennenman Magistrate Court, facing possession of suspected stolen copper cable.
