Police in Brandfort are looking for an unknown number of suspects who allegedly stabbed and killed a man in town.

On 2 May 2023 at about 17:10, Mr Lambertus Petrus Lochner (70) went to his business premises, Brandfort Butchery in Voortrekker Road, to check on it.

It is alleged that he met an unknown man who was busy stealing cables from the building and confronted him.

The man allegedly stabbed him with a knife.

Mr. Lochner called his wife and told her that he had been stabbed. She went and rushed him to a hospital in Bloemfontein.

On the way, she called the ambulance, which met her on Raymond Mhlaba Road in Bloemfontein.

Emergency personnel tried all they could, but Mr Lochner passed away. He had stab wounds to the chest and arm.

The police are investigating the incident.
