On Wednesday 6 November 2019, whilst on duty, Mangaung SAPS Task team learnt about a grey Polo Sedan that had just been involved in a business robbery at Botshabelo. The vigilant police officers, whilst patrolling around their policing area noticed the vehicle fitting the description of the wanted vehicle and followed it.

The suspects tried to outsmart the police however the men in blue were too quick for them and they successfully without any injuries managed to stop the suspect’s vehicle at Nyokong Street, in Bochabela, Bloemfontein with the suspects still inside.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered a bag with two 9mm firearms and ammunition as well as an undisclosed amount of money inside. The four suspects aged between 31 and 38 were arrested at the scene.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court soon facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“This success is as a result of our increased operational activities and police visibility for the festive season. Criminals should be warned that we will be ready and waiting”, said acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Qhobosheane.
