A-50-year old suspect will appear before District Magistrate court on Tuesday, 1 December 2020 following his arrest by the multi-disciplinary team comprising of members of DPCI National Priority Violent Crimes, Local Criminal Record Centre and K9 Park Road after a robbery that occurred at a supermarket at Oliver Tambo Street in Bloemfontein on Saturday 28 November 2020.

It is alleged that on Saturday, 28 November 2020, a team of G4S Cash Solution Services was busy with its normal work at Kagisanong ATM.

The team was attacked by a group of armed robbers who overpowered and disarmed them. In the process, a cash box containing some cash was stolen by the said robbers. The robbers fired some shots as they fled.

With the ensuing preliminary investigation conducted, it was established that three vehicles were used in carrying out the attack.

The emptied cash box was later recovered near Tebelelo School in Rocklands Township in Mangaung. An intensive manhunt was conducted throughout the weekend by a multidisciplinary team.

A 50-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to his residence at Rocklands Township, Mangaung. Upon searching the residence, about R15 000 of dye-stained cash was found hidden in buckets in the main bedroom.

Upon his appearance in court, the suspect will face charges of armed robbery.
