The Safer Festive Season Operation continues to yield success in Mangaung Metro. On Thursday, 20 January 2022 the Tactical Response Team once again embarked on crime sweep activities to rid the streets of Mangaung of criminal elements.

The Detective Branch in Heidedal Police Station called for intervention at about 09:00 and the team responded. Two suspects aged 33 and 40 were arrested for Contravention of Protection Order as well as resisting arrest.

The Operation continued and at about 14:00, a 25-year-old male was arrested for possession of presumed stolen property. The team arrived at the shack dwelling in Naledi Square and found the suspect in possession of two red and black mini smart machines.

A case docket was opened at Bloemspruit Police Station as the suspect failed to provide documentation to prove ownership of the machines.

A 24-year-old alleged rape suspect was also arrested at Naledi Square by the team at about 14:10. A case of rape was already opened at Bloemspruit Police Station and the victim pointed out the suspect to the police.

The Detective Branch at Kagisanong Police Station also asked for the team members’ assistance to trace a suspect in a case of cellphone theft. The 28-year-old was arrested in Mancoe Street Rocklands at about 14:45.

A common robbery wanted suspect was also arrested at about 15:20. The 30-year-old suspect was arrested in Mojatau Street in Rocklands.
