In a significant breakthrough for the #SaferFestiveSeason operations, members of the Public Order Police (POP) Unit in Bloemfontein have arrested a 33-year-old man on allegations of dealing in drugs.
The arrest was executed on Tuesday during the ongoing #OperationShanela2, following a tip-off received by the unit about alleged drug peddling at a specific address on Morrison Street in the Ashbury area.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, police officers conducted a search of the identified premises. The operation yielded a substantial quantity of narcotics. The seized contraband included:
-
353 rolled dagga zols, with a total weight of approximately 400 grams.
-
Sixty-six (66) full Mandrax tablets and two (2) halves.
-
Eight (8) zip-lock plastics containing the drug CAT.
-
One (1) zip-lock plastic containing Crystal Meth.
In addition to the drugs, an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of illicit drug sales, was also confiscated by the authorities.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest at the scene. A formal case docket for Dealing in Drugs has been registered at the Heidedal Police Station.
The 33-year-old male is expected to make his initial appearance before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in the coming days to face the charges.
