Bloemfontein petrol station attacked by AK47 wielding robbers
German tourists attacked and robbed in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.

Police in Bloemfontein are searching for armed robbers who stormed a petrol station in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Chaka Marope said the heavily armed men stormed the filling station wearing balaclavas and used explosives to blast open the safe.

They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash which was contained in a money box.

“Three of the suspects were reportedly armed with AK47 rifles and the other two with pistols. The men allegedly stormed into the convenient store at the filling station in Fleurdal suburb in the early hours of Monday morning, 5 September,” he said.

Marope said two employees were ordered to kneel down at gunpoint.

The men escaped in a gold Mercedes Benz with no number plates.

No shots were fired and nobody was hurt in the incident.
