The mayor of Bethlehem, Lindiwe Makhalema, was caught with R2.8 million in cash in her luggage bag.

According to reports, a local resident “reported” to the police.

However, she denies the allegations that the money was used to bribe delegates in the region. According to accusations on social media, she had to bribe ANC members at a branch meeting to vote for Dlamini-Zuma.
