The Welkom Serious and Violent Crimes Unit has launched an investigation into a brazen business robbery executed by a group of six armed men at a local jewellery store on Tuesday morning.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 09:36 on September 23, 2025. Six unknown African males stormed into the establishment, where they proceeded to ransack the premises. The suspects were allegedly armed with firearms.
During the course of the robbery, a 53-year-old male victim was assaulted and robbed of his personal cellphone. The suspects successfully fled the scene with a haul of jewellery, watches, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
It is alleged that the group made their escape using two getaway vehicles: a grey Toyota Corolla Quest and a white Volkswagen Polo.
