A case of armed robbery has been registered after an undisclosed amount of cash was robbed by three people who pretended to be Police officers. Identikits are compiled and residents are requested to assist in tracing these suspects.

On the 20 October 2021 at about 10:00 a lady who introduced herself as Lerato to a business woman Me. Dikeledi Mphojane (34) when they met at a party six months ago, called her telephonically to pick her alleged brother from Qwaqwa at Mannys, Welkom.

Me. Mphojane drove to Mannys to pick up the brother of Lerato to a wholesale selling bulk clothing in Welkom, he could not buy anything until he requested to be taken back at a hiking spot to Qwaqwa at Jason Street Riebeeckstad, Welkom.

While they were sitting in the vehicle, they were approached by three occupants with an orange Ford Ranger Double Cub and a white VW Polo TSI both with GP registration numbers.

The three people including a woman introduced themselves as police officers.

The business woman was robbed cash that was in her car and her cellphone at gun point. The male person was allegedly assaulted. She was taken to the road, Welkom and Bultfontein where she was abandoned at a secluded area.

The woman who introduced herself as Lerato and a gentleman whom the lady claimed he was her brother from Qwaqwa are nowhere to be found. The fourth suspect appeared when the complainant was taken to that spot.

A case of Armed Robbery was registered for further investigation.
