Armed gang of five men rob Thaba'Nchu post office

Two suspects were swiftly apprehended by Thaba’Nchu police, Selosesha TRT and K9 Units following a robbery at a post office in Thaba’Nchu.

The Post Master reported that on Wednesday, 2 September 2020, at about 12:00, as a result of load-shedding, the Post office had to temporarily close. At about 13:00, the post master went outside to the parking lot to his private vehicle and when he returned to open the main door to the Post Office, he was allegedly confronted by an unknown male. The man pointed him with a pistol, pushed him inside the building and four other males joined them.

The suspects allegedly pushed him and the rest of his staff into the strong room safe and demanded cash. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and two cellphones before they fled the scene.

The police were alerted and managed to apprehend two males aged 24 and 31. Some of the money and the two cellphones were recovered. Three other suspects are still on the run.

The suspects will appear in Thaba’Nchu Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of business robbery.
