On 1 July 2023 at about 16:00 the police in Boshof were called about a shooting in Blesbok Street, Kareehof in Boshof.
On arrival an African male person was lying on the ground.
The police officer approached the father and asked him what happened and the father replied that he shot his son after an argument.
An ambulance was summoned to the scene and the 35-year-old son was admitted to hospital for medical treatment for a shot wound on his left leg.
Police arrested the 55-year-old father and confiscated his 9mm pistol with ammunition.
The father is the licensed owner of the 9mm pistol.
He is facing charges of attempted murder and will appear in the Boshof Magistrates’ Court on 3 July 2023.
