The South African Police Service’s Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) has arrested a 40-year-old man following the discovery of a substantial amount of diesel and a suspected stolen vehicle in Heidedal.
According to police reports, the arrest occurred on Friday afternoon during an operation in the area. Officers apprehended the suspect after finding him in possession of 23 containers filled with diesel.
The total volume of the fuel seized is estimated at 550 liters, with an approximate street value of R11,000. Additionally, law enforcement officials confiscated a white Opel Corsa Bakkie, which is believed to have been stolen.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Detectives are currently working to determine the origin of the diesel and to establish if the suspect may be linked to any other criminal incidents within the Mangaung Metro.
