On 27 February 2020, at about 08:30, members of Welkom K9 Unit and Thabong Crime Intelligence followed information about a person in possession of drugs.
Two men were identified and approached whilst at a supermarket in Welkom CBD. One of the suspects managed to flee and the second one who carried a shoulder bag school bag was stopped. A request was made to search the bag, and lose 1025 ARV tablets were found inside the bag.
A 24-year-old male student in one of the Colleges in Kroonstad, was arrested for possession of ARV tablets. The suspect will appear soon in Welkom Magistrate Court.
