Three suspects arrested for alleged theft of sheep appeared before the Bethlehem Magistrate Court on 17 October 2023 and were remanded in custody.

It’s alleged that on 15 October 2023 at about 06:00, the farmer noticed that his sheep were outside the kraal. He began counting and found that 27 were missing. They immediately noticed tracks of sheep and footprints and followed them. In the process, they came across four sheep that had been slaughtered and 11 that were still alive.

On further search, they found another four alive sheep and arrested the first suspect and the second one fled, but they managed to apprehend him. During the preliminary investigation, the third suspect was also arrested and detained in police cells. All three were charged with stock theft and appeared briefly before the Bethlehem Magistrate Court.

The three accused persons, Mokanyane Lerato (19), Mokanyane Tankiso (26) and Motaung Lebohang (27) cases, have been postponed and remanded in custody until 25 October 2023 for further investigations and a formal bail application.
