Members of Seloshesha and Welkom Tactical Response Team were deployed at one of the borders when they received information about three suspects who allegedly committed burglary and theft at one of the farm houses in Wesselsbron district and they wanted to sell stolen rifles to Lesotho nationals.

The information was operationalised on 24 and 25 January 2024 from 23:45 until 16:00 and a member even used his private vehicle to approach a house at a section called Dipompong Monyakeng in Wesselsbron. The house was tactically approached and three suspects were found inside the house with firearms and ammunition covered with a duvet placed on the bed. One of the suspects was also found in possession of a 357 Special revolver. The trio never had a license to be in possession of firearms and ammunition.

The three suspects, aged 33, 34 and 41 years old, all reside in Wesselsbron. The seized firearms were as follows:

Fuji Dynamic Auto Shot Gun with serial number visible, Piettro Beretta Musgrave Shotgun 12GA, Mauser Hunting rifle serial number visible, silver hunting rifle serial number visible, 357 Magnum Special revolver serial number still visible, 12 X SP 12 red shotgun live rounds, 15 X green SP 12 live rounds, and 25 X 357 Magnum Special live rounds.

The suspects will appear soon in Wesselsbron Magistrate Court.
