Former Sasolburg Absa employee, Violet Mohlatsi (40), appeared at the local magistrate court on Monday 30 September 2019, after she was charged on 6041 charges of fraud, money laundering and theft.

The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation arrested Mohlatsi on Monday following an investigation into complaints regarding unauthorised withdrawals from customers’ accounts dating back to June 2017.

The investigation revealed that Mohlatsi had apparently duplicated about 10 unsuspecting clients’ bank cards in order to perform these illegal transactions, amounting to over R118 000 which resulted in a number of reports filed at the branch.

The Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court released Mohlatsi on a R5000 bail and the case was postponed to 11 October 2019.
