A truck lost control and ploughed into pedestrians near Maseru Port of Entry on the morning of 14 February 2023, injuring several people and killing four.
On Tuesday, 14 February 2023 at about 08:00 the police were called to a horrific scene of accident at the Port of Entry.
A truck driver allegedly lost control of the truck, causing it to crash into vendors and commuters standing around, eventually collided with a stationary taxi, and hit more people before ending up in the riverbed at the Port of Entry.
This far Police found four people who died and 23 people who were injured.
All emergency personnel and police were called to the accident scene. The driver of the truck was critically injured also taken to the hospital.
All patients were taken to the Hospital in Ladybrand. The police are still on the scene to determine the cause of the accident.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
