A bus transporting undocumented persons was stopped on the N1 on Friday 21 October 2022, at approximately 14:00. A multi-disciplinary approach operation roadblock was set up on the N1 north from Bloemfontein where Provincial Traffic Police, Home Affairs and South African Police Service members worked together.
At about 16:00 a bus allegedly heading to Cape Town, was stopped by the reaction team.
All stakeholders sent their search teams and it was discovered that 34 of the 48 passengers in the bus were all not having passports or any form of identification in their possession.
The 34 consisting of 12 males, 17 females and 4 infants, were taken off the bus and processed by immigration officials.
All will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate court soon for contravention of the immigration Act and necessary processes will follow.
