Three suspects, Xolani Hlongwane (30), Sakhile Hlongwane (33) and Khulekani Dlamini (27) from Bergville in KwaZulu-Natal will appear in Harrismith Magistrate court on Wednesday 3 March 2021, for the murder of Samkelo Maswazi Vilakazi (26) whose body was found with a bullet wound on the left cheek on the R714 road outside Harrismith on the 22 February 2021 at about 22:00.
The trio already appeared in the Bergville Magistrate court on Monday, 1 March 2021 for possession of illegal firearm and possession of suspected stolen property after they were arrested last week for being in possession of a firearm and the deceased’s vehicle.
They were then transferred to Harrismith where they’ll appear on alleged murder charge.
Maswazi’s body was found on the 22 February 2021 at about 22:00 by a passerby who noticed the body of a male person lying on road with only a t-shirt and short trousers. He was found with a gunshot wound and it preliminary investigation discovered that the deceased’ vehicle, a white Nissan Tiida had been hijacked.
The suspects might be linked to other crimes in Harrismith area.
