The police in Welkom have launched a manhunt for three unknown suspects involved in attempted robbery and murder of a 47-year-old woman which took place at Tempest road in Dagbreek, Welkom on Tuesday, 12 July 2022 at about 19:00.
It is alleged that the victim was driving home from work when she was accosted by three unknown men who were waiting for her at the gate.
One of the suspects allegedly blocked the gate and the other two followed her inside the court yard where they cornered her while inside her vehicle.
The vehicle’s window was smashed and she was instructed to hand over cash.
She allegedly reversed the vehicle away from the suspects and the suspects fired shots at her. The woman was fatally wounded and the suspects fled on foot.
Emergency service personnel were summoned to the scene and she was certified dead.
A case of attempted robbery and murder was registered for further investigation.
