The Phuthaditjhaba Family, Child Protection and Sexual offences Unit is investigating an incident in which two minors, aged five and eight years, were allegedly raped by a suspect who forced them to smoke dagga.

It is alleged that on 8 May 2022 at about 10:00, the mother asked her five year-old daughter why she was not feeling well. The girl informed her mother that a certain known man allegedly forced her and her friend (8) to smoke dagga.

Both girls were taken to the police station and police immediately took them to the hospital for examination.

It was discovered by the doctor that both children were also raped.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear before the Makwane Magistrate court on Wednesday, 11 May 2022 facing two charges of rape and two of attempted murder.

“This is a sickening and terrible ordeal any parent should or girls should go through. I hope wheels of justice will turn and justice to prevail. I want to thank our police members for doing fantastic work and putting the suspect behind bars,” said the Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane.
