Two suspects were nabbed on the N1 by Trompsburg Highway Patrol for possession of abalone.
In the early hours of Sunday, 4 June 2023 at about 04:00, Trompsburg Highway Patrol members were conducting a stop and search on the N1 just outside Trompsburg.
They stopped a white Toyota Hilux bakkie with a canopy.
The canopy windows were painted. Upon searching the back of the bakkie police found about 53 black refuse bags filled with abalone.
Two male suspects, aged 31 and 42, that were heading to Bloemfontein were apprehended for possession of abalone.
The duo are expected to appear before Trompsburg Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of possession of abalone.
