16-year-old on the run after stabbing uncle to death

A 16-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed his uncle to death after an [argument] over house keys is on the run, police in the Free State said on Tuesday.

Police based at Meloding said they “are looking for a 16-year-old boy, who allegedly murdered his uncle on Friday, 15 July 2016 at about 19:50 at Stilte Park, Meloding”.

“It is alleged that the 16-year-old was with his 30-year-old uncle Mohlouwa Klaas and cousin Pule Klaas when an argument ensued between them about house keys,” said the police in a terse statement.

The police said the suspect allegedly took out a knife and stabbed his uncle before fleeing the scene on foot.

“Pule summoned Meloding police and emergency services. Mohlouwa was certified dead at the scene. A case of murder was registered for further investigation. The 16-year-old is still at large.”
