Crime Intelligence members received information, which was operationalised by the Odendaalsrus Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit and the Welkom Public Order Policing members, that a suspect was found with 14 suspected stolen cattle worth R280 000 on 26 June 2023 at about 16:00.

Apparently, the livestock were stolen at a farm in Hennenman district and the farmer registered a case of stock theft.

More arrests are imminent.

The suspect will appear on 28 June 2023 in the Hennenman Magistrates’ Court.

The Acting District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Brigadier Mzondi Mojafi, applauded residents for giving information to the SAPS and the swift reaction by Crime Intelligence, Stock Theft Unit and Welkom POP which led to the arrests and seizure of the cattle.
