FN demands explanation from Maimane for hate speech tweet

Front National South Africa demands an explanation from the leader of the Democratic Alliance, Mmusi Maimane, after a posting on his Twitter account yesterday. This follows the controversial court appearance in Middelburg of two men accused in the “coffin case”. In the tweet three African men stands behind a corner with heavy rocks captioned with the words: “Waiting for the two coffin case people…”

The DA leader frequently opposes any form of racism, yet openly incites barbaric retaliation and, by definition, commits hate speech. While FN does not tolerate any act of racism or humiliation by anybody towards anybody, such a post by a leading South African politician on the social media defeats exactly what he says. FN does not approve of any act such as the “coffin case”, but we understand that these men are as fed-up as the rest of the white minority population for constantly being racially abused, marginalized and under threat. It certainly does not promote a positive future expectation if even the opposition leader joins in acts of hate speech, incitement to violence and racism.

FN also condemns the silence from Maimane after the display of a poster outside the court buildings in Middelburg yesterday. This poster openly calls for the killing of white people. The protest action was a joint venture by the Economic Freedom Fighters, the African National Congress and the Democratic Alliance. By condoning the display of an open call for genocide, not to mention the reluctance to condemn farm attacks and racism towards white South Africans, the DA and its leader, by implication, tolerates and even promotes this. Front National takes exception to this and demand an explanation from Maimane.
