The first phase of Operation Shanela and Safer Festive Season started with an overnight suspects raiding which has resulted in the arrest of 1032 suspects for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, assault GBH, common assault including 236 for crimes committed against women and children.
Through intelligence a suspect was arrested for possession of drugs worth R80 000.
Currently, the Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Tommy Mthombeni together with DPC: Policing, Maj Gen Fred Kekana and Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Molefi Tsotsotso are leading from the front at a roadblock in JHB District where 136 undocumented persons were arrested and traffic fines were issued.
