The Independent Regulatory Council of Auditors will investigate one of the four major audit firms in the country, Deloitte.
It is recommended that Deloitte’s involvement in African Bank’s 2014 mess be investigated.
Deloitte’s chief executive officer confirmed that there was a disciplinary hearing against Deloitte regarding the 2013 audit of African Bank and African Bank Investments Limited. Furthermore, Deloitte is also on the red carpet due to Steinhoff’s audit work in 2014, 2105 and 2016.
It is thus the second audit firm that comes under the spotlight of KPMG’s failure with Gupta-controlled Linkway Trading.
Meanwhile, KPMG needs Solomon’s wisdom to get things done. Wiseman Nkuhlu has just been appointed as KMPG’s new chairman. Nkuhlu is currently the Chancellor of the University of Pretoria.
