Draft regulations on the valuation of farms set aside for “reform” can have a profound impact on agriculture in South Africa.
If the proposed regulations, which were published in the Government Gazette for comment on 21 April, remain unchanged, it will have an enormous impact on farmers who inherited their land.
Some commentators go so far as to say that in some cases farmers may walk away with nothing.
