Nothing was stolen yet the 54-year-old Mr. Frikkie Liebenberg was killed on his farm near Bronkhorstspruit.
Mr. Liebenberg was shot in the back, and there is a disagreement between the police and the farming community. Police allege that Mr. Liebenberg was shot through the window, while the farmers who visited the scene, are certain of the fact that the killers were in the house.
While the police are usually quick to declare that robbery is the motive for farm attacks, in this case, they are pulling out their hair.
Indeed, it is the same in the case when the 64-year-old Mrs. Nicci Simpson of Kalbasfontein was attacked. The widow was tortured for hours in her home after the attackers killed her dog. During the horrific torturous attack, they kicked her and snapped her knee, burned her with an iron and jabbed her feet with an electric drill. In addition, they threatened to cut off her legs with an angle grinder while her wrist was almost cut off.
The attackers fled with her car, yet the experts agree that robbery could not be the motive for such torture.
Mrs. Simpson confirmed the leader of the group of suspects was the “aggressive one with hate in his eyes”.
Nevertheless, she decided to go back to her place, but she warns people to wake up because attackers strike when you least expect it. “There’s a surprise element associated with attacks.”
Meanwhile, the manager of a farm outside Paarl is recuperating in a hospital after farm workers assaulted him.
