Police Minister Bheki Cele announced the appointment of Peter Jacobs as Crime Intelligence’s new boss.

Jacobs was detained in 1987 in Pollsmoor prison on charges of terrorism along with MK’s commander Ashley Forbes and others.

Jacobs, Forbes, Nicholas Pedro, Anwar Dramat, Nazeem Lowe and Clement Baadjies were convicted of MK activities, ie terrorist deeds, and sentenced to between 10 and 15 years in prison.

This appointment also raises the eyebrows regarding Cele’s ability to deal with crime.
