With the announcement of the Chinese “donation” to Eskom, Eskom’s workers have now insisted on being payed bonuses.
However, Eskom announced that the amount of jobs should be reduced, but unions insist that Eskom’s top structure should be reduced, instead of the workforce.
Eskom says, however, that they can not afford bonus payments and that the Chinese loan is given on condition that it will not be used for bonuses.
Eskom currently has a workforce of more than 48 000.
