Eskom does not want to disclose certain operational data, but the organization Outa is not accepting it.
Outa said they want to know exactly how much “Gupta coal” Eskom uses.
After Outa received a successful appeal, Eskom will be forced to reveal the data at a public hearing later this week.
Earlier this year Eskom asked Nersa to keep the data secret until after their application for a 19.9% tariff increase.
According to Outa’s Energy Director, Ted Blom, they have information about the ongoing fraud, corruption, and mismanagement at Eskom. He said it is a fact that Eskom is a corrupt organization of continual crime.
Blom says that large-scale theft and corruption entirely cancel out any justification for tariff increases, and in fact, there is a justification for a 50% reduction in the rate.
