Former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe, after only one and a half years at the institution, apparently received a massive golden handshake.
He hastily left the power utility after he was linked to the notorious Gupta family in a state capture report by the previous Public Protector.
Apparently, Molefe received a farewell bonus of R30,1 million. This is over, and above the R8 million, he earned in salary per year, and in addition to the shares allocated to him. The value of the shares is not known.
Meanwhile, Eskom spokesperson Khulani Qoma refused to disclose more information about the golden handshake. But it will emerge in the audit report to be issued in June.
The related Minister Lynne Brown also washed her hands off the matter and claimed that she did not know of any severance package.
